He wrote his diploma thesis in nuclear physics at the French research institution CEA-Saclay near Paris as part of an international co-operation programme between several research institutes. Since 2000 Jan Habermann works in the field of industrial property rights and is a founding partner of the law firm Katscher Habermann established in 2003. Jan Habermann is married since 2001 and has three children. He is a member of GRUR and a member of the development association of the Patent Information Centre in Darmstadt.
