Design applications in Germany in 2020.
The appearance of a two- or three-dimensional object which is mainly defined by its shape, forms and colors, also known as the typical design, can be protected from imitations by registering a design.
The protection of a design can refer to products, visible parts of a product or other design elements that can be used for different products.
The scope of protection of a registered design is mainly stipulated by the illustrations that are attached to the application documents. The scope of protection can also refer to identical and similar designs leading to the same general impression of the object according to the opinion of the informed user.
