It is possible to protect words, graphically designed logos and pictures, but also colors, shapes or sounds as a trademark. A trademark that is capable of being protected is registered for specified goods or services.

An existing trademark protection can be extended as often as desired. In addition to officially registered trademarks, protection may be established under certain circumstances for non-registered but extensively used or well known trademarks as well as business signs, such as company names.
