Trademark protection abroad can be achieved by filing an application directly in the country in which you wish to protect your trademark. However, it may be cost saving to apply for a Community trademark or to register an international trademark.
Based on a German trademark application or a German trademark registration, an International trademark registration offers the possibility to expand your trademark right on your choice out of more than 70 countries worldwide.
A community trademark offers a uniform protection in all member states of the European Union. Since October 2004 the International trademark registration may be combined with a Community trademark so that you can profit from the advantages of both intellectual property rights.
